Dental prosthesis is the process of replacing lost teeth using various prostheses. Many alternative prostheses can be applied in the rehabilitation of missing or multiple teeth.
Prostheses are divided into 2 groups:
1. Fixed prosthesis
They are prostheses made with the support of teeth or implants in the mouth and attached to these teeth using various chemicals. Crowns and bridges called “veneers” are such prostheses.
2. Removable prosthesis
In cases where fixed prosthesis cannot be made; In some cases, toothed prostheses (skeletal prostheses), in others they are only tissue supported (general prostheses). These prostheses can be removed if desired.
FIXED OR MOVABLE PROSTHESIS?
Considering factors such as chewing capacity, aesthetic factors, ease of use, oral hygiene, fixed prostheses have been found to be much more advantageous.
Considering these factors, we always try to treat our patients with a “fixed prosthesis” in the first place.
In cases where there is not enough dental support, fixed treatment is tried to be applied using implants.
Today, with the widespread use of implant applications, the use of removable prosthesis in our patients has decreased.
If the patient is not suitable for using a fixed prosthesis, for example, if there are not enough support teeth to fix the prosthesis, then we try to reconstruct the teeth with the most suitable removable prosthesis.
We can use “high precision prostheses”, which are a combination of fixed and removable prostheses, in patients with their own teeth, but they cannot provide sufficient support for a fixed prosthesis.
As a result: A prosthesis prepared according to the condition of the teeth and oral tissues, X-ray examinations and the patient’s wishes allows you to perform chewing and speech functions perfectly, restores the lost aesthetic appearance, protects the chewing system and facilitates the use of prosthesis.
WHAT IS AESTHETIC DENTISTRY?
Today, dentists deal with both aesthetic dentistry and dental diseases. People use many methods to make their teeth beautiful, white and smooth. [1] Aesthetic dentists apply methods from a medical point of view. It is very important that these interventions are carried out in a sterile environment and are not harmful to health. Aesthetic dentists, who examine the features of teeth, gums and jaw structures, develop prostheses proportional to the structure of the face.
Aesthetic dentists work on:
- The color, shape and position of the teeth,
- appearance of the gums
- The harmonious position of the teeth, gums, lips, chin and face,
- spaces between teeth
- broken teeth
- Old, nasty looking fillings.
WHAT IS AESTHETIC FILLING?
It is important that the dental procedures used are both visually and functionally satisfactory. Therefore, the main purpose of modern fillings is to make fillings in the form of natural teeth, the boundaries of the filling should not be noticed so that the person cannot distinguish the filling from his own tooth. Aesthetic filler is a composite material. It has the feature of taking the desired shape and hardens under the halogen lamp and combines with the tooth.
HOW IS AESTHETIC DENTISTRY APPLIED?
First, x-rays are taken to examine the patient’s teeth. Necessary procedures are performed before the aesthetic is applied. Then, a digital smile design is created to show the patient how their teeth and smile will be after aesthetic correction. The patient has the right to make any changes in the design of his smile. There are a number of techniques used in aesthetic dentistry depending on the structure of the tooth. While people with yellow teeth are subjected to teeth whitening, crowns or dentures are placed for those with crooked teeth, gaps or in the wrong position. All stages are planned by a dental specialist.
Aesthetic Dentistry Services:
- aesthetic filling
- porcelain laminate teeth
- IPS Empress dental veneers
- gum aesthetics
- Digital Smile Design (DSD)
- Digital Smile Design Function,
It allows you to plan and apply the most beautiful, harmonious and aesthetically natural smile according to the patient’s wishes. Typically, one or more operations can be performed together, such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, gingival straightening or implant placement.
GUM SHAPING
If you are worried about your gums showing too much when you smile or your teeth appearing short because of the gums that come out when you smile, you can do gum shaping.
Gum formation can be done in a very short time by using a service called “gingival smile”.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening service is one of the most popular services in the world. This service is also the easiest and most successful.
WHAT IS PORCELAIN (LAMINA) COATING?
It is the method in which healthy tooth tissue is lost the least. It is the process of bonding the porcelain tooth lamina to the thinned area.
Porcelain laminates should be applied;
• People whose upper teeth are too short to be seen while smiling,
• People whose teeth are stained and cannot be whitened due to the use of antibiotics and excessive fluoride,
• People with broken front teeth,
• People with caries between their teeth (closure diastama)
• To straighten crooked teeth (as an alternative to orthodontic treatment)
• It can be used on teeth with bad structural form and shape.
WHAT IS ZIRCONIA CROWN?
Unlike gray metal, which is the building material of classical porcelain bridges and prostheses, it has a white alloy.
By using zirconium it is possible to achieve more aesthetic results than ceramic on a metal substrate. As with natural teeth, a natural appearance is achieved thanks to a small translucency. Non allergic. Unlike metal prostheses, it is more beneficial for general health.
They are useful ingredients that do not cause taste deterioration, gum problems or bad breath.
Zirconium (Zirconia) Crowns are recommended
In severe thinning of teeth
If there are not enough teeth when making a bridge
As a tip for dentures on pins
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF PORCELAIN (LAMINA)?
- It is applied to the surface without requiring strong grinding of the tooth or any grinding.
- They do not change color under the influence of external factors such as tea, coffee and cigarettes.
- Color options are available.
- Cracks, cracks, large fillings and stains are easy to fix.
- They are too natural to be confused with porcelain plates.
- They are very resistant to abrasion. They protect the tooth and prevent tooth decay.
ADVANTAGES OF AESTHETIC DENTISTRY PRACTICE
The benefits of using aesthetic dentistry include the presence of beautiful and healthy white teeth and increased self-confidence. This increased self-confidence allows people to talk, smile and be happier in their social lives.
AFTER AESTHETIC TREATMENT IN DENTISTRY
After aesthetic dental procedures, people should not eat hot or cold food and drinks for a while. Otherwise, the patient’s new teeth may be damaged. In addition, colored products such as tea, coffee, fruit juice, red wine and cigarettes should not be consumed after bleaching and coating. Finally, you need to use the medicine given by the aesthetic dentist, and following these instructions will quickly complete the healing process.
